Janis was born and lives in Melbourne, Australia. She began travelling in 1972 – going to the USA to work. She lived in Rochester, New York; Menlo Park, California; and Boise, Idaho. In 1978 and 1979 she traveled ‘around the world’. She traveled as an overlander from London to Kathmandu through Iran and Afghanistan. She has traveled extensively in India, the Himalayas, South East Asia, China, Japan and the Americas. She has always taken lots of photos and kept journals.
In between her travels, she has raised a family and had two careers. Her first career was in Therapy Radiography – very meaningful and satisfying. Her second career was in Information Technology – very exciting and visionary.
She spends her spare time making quilts. She wants to make one for each member of her family and one for each of her friends. This will take her a long, long time.
High Janis, a blast from the past. Decided to do some research on the old Encounter Overland company and who did I find? I was on your trip and have just set up Facebook especially to contact you. Never used it before, so steep learning curve! I hope you are well and see you’re planning an overland trip in Africa, you obviously still have the travelling bug. Sent this message via FB awhile ago but I suspect your not seeing it or you’re away on one of your adventures! Have joined the Encounter Overland group on FB and hope to post some pics of my own.
