Dragon River

This is Merlin’s Quilt.  He had recently been to Japan teaching English.  He loved being in Japan, so Janis made him a Japanese inspired quilt from a series of  stylized blocks.

Around the central dragon panel are sixteen blocks.  There are four kimono blocks, family crest motifs, good fortune symbols and sashiko designs.  Janis really enjoyed making this quilt.  It was really the first ‘serious’ quilt she made and the block style allowed her to experiment.
